Advocacy & Policy

Sound Sense plays a key role in reporting on projects that deal with major issues. Our research reports, information packs, journals and advocacy activities enable those working in community development, regeneration, health and education to see the benefits of community music in their field of work. And community music workers themselves learn from each other's experiences.

Sound Sense proud to be part of MEC

The Music Education Council draws its membership from across the entire music education and music industry sectors. Through its corporate members MEC represents tens of thousands of music educators across the UK. This gives it a uniquely big picture of music education and is why MEC is the umbrella body for all UK organisations connected with music education.

Sound Sense is supporting the #FreeMoveCreate campaign

#FreeMoveCreate is a collaborative campaign to protect freedom of movement for everyone working in the creative industries. The campaign will:

  • inform allies, including industry, of the importance of free movement to individuals working in the creative industries
  • lobby Government and Parliament about the importance of freedom of movement
  • arm creators and individuals working in the creative industries with the facts and figures needed to make the case
  • assist creators and individuals working in the creative industries in supporting sister campaigns and engaging with decision makers
